Justin White Would Like to Publicly Commend Several Members of Our Jail Staff

Sheriff Smith and Jail Administrator Justin White would like to publicly commend several members of our jail staff.

November 16th, an Alabama State Trooper was transporting a female to the Walker County Jail.

When the Trooper arrived in the parking lot of the jail, the female was unresponsive. The staff of the Walker County Jail was notified of the issue that was taking place in the parking lot, and quickly responded outside.

Corrections Officer Benjamin Shoemaker, Captain Jottie Tidwell, Corrections Officer Braxton Kee, and Nurse LaRissa all began administering aid to the individual. It became evident that the unresponsive female had overdosed on an unknown substance.

The staff of the jail acted quickly and decisively, and administered Narcan to the female.  The Jasper Fire Department arrived on the scene, followed by Regional Paramedics.  After three total doses of Narcan, the female regained conciousness and was stabilized enough to be transported to Brookwood Baptist Medical Center in Jasper by Regional Paramedics.

If not for the swift and heroic actions of the listed staff members, a life would have surely been lost.  With their dedication to doing what is right, a life has been spared! in addition, the citizens of Walker County get to see shining examples of professionalism that come to work every day to make a difference.  Sheriff Smith and Jail Administrator Justin White would like to publicly commend these individuals on their life-saving actions!

We are absolutley blessed to have such dedicated civil servants in this great county!
