The Cawaco Resource Conservation and Development Council, Inc. has approved grant funding for a search and rescue drone (Skydio X2E) for the Walker County Sheriff’s Office.
The drone, which will be equipped with a FLIR thermal imaging camera, can be used to search for missing elderly persons and missing children; Assist in search and rescue operations that are difficult if not impossible to reach by ground; Locate prison or arrest escapees; Collect evidence; Photograph, video, and map crime scenes from the air above; Monitor the county jail; and Crowd control.
