Frederick Montanye Was Arrested at the Tent That He Had Been Living

Frederick Montanye was arrested 09-25-2022 at his tent that he had been living in near Hwy. 724 and Hwy. 83 in Russellville, Alabama -Franklin County. Montanye is charged with Sexual Abuse of a Child less that 12 years old after allegations that he had sexual contact with a toddler. The child victim is a family member of Montanye. According to statements from family members, Montanye admitted to them that he had the sexual contact with the child when they confronted him about it. Montanye did offer apologies to the family members during the confrontation. The child was taken to an area hospital for examination. Franklin County Department of Human Resources was contacted and assisted in the investigation.

When Investigators went to speak with Montanye at his tent, he decided fleeing from the deputies would be his best option but was quickly apprehended after being tased. A deputy sustained minir injuries while arresting Montanyne. He was charged with the Sexual Abuse of a Child less than 12 years old, Resisting Arrest, Assault 3rd, and Attempting to Elude.  Montanye’s bond has been set at $50,000.

Montanye is a registered sex offender in Franklin County. He was released from prison in Florida back in August 2022. He was serving a sentence for Kidnapping, Sexual Battery, Lewd/Lascivious Assault/Sexual Battery- Victim under 16 in Pasco County Florida; Lewd/Lascivious Molestation/Sexual Battery – victim under 12 in Hillsborough County Florida. It is believed that he may have gotten out of prison from the initial sentencing but may not have registered as Sex Offender in Florida and went to back to prison. We are still waiting clarification on that. The above charges from Florida are from the 1980’s and 1990’s.
