During this Holiday season there have been many efforts made by various personnel from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office to give back to the communities. One such effort was the giving of different types of gift cards and donations.
We would also like to thank two of our communication operators Rhonda Bullion and Matt Waldrep for their efforts in Operation Santa Claus. When presented with the idea they both volunteered their time and was a huge reason it was largely successful.
These gift cards ranged from being used at restaurants to local grocery stores such as,Big Star and Piggly Wiggly, and Walmart. So many Donors were willing to give toward this resulting in over 150 gift cards of various type, from over $8000 in donations.
They were divided between 3 locations within the county which were east side, central, and west side. Deputy’s would make legal traffic stops in these locations based on probable cause from traffic violations. Deputies would then have an added option, that instead of issuing a citation they could give a warning whether written or verbal and a gift card.
The Deputy’s all stated that it was a great joy to give to people this time of year. We want to take time to thank those that donated to “Operation Santa Claus” and say from all of us at the Franklin County Sheriff Office have a safe and Merry Christmas.
