Due to a strong response from veterans and their families, the Vietnam Veteran Pinning Ceremony for the Shoals area will move to a larger venue. Congressman Robert Aderholt announced that more than 200 people are scheduled to attend the event, which is almost a month away.

The ceremony, originally set for Tuscumbia, will now take place at the University of North Alabama’s Guillot University Center in Florence on Friday, August 22, 2025, at 10:30 a.m.

“Because of the incredible response we’ve received, we needed a larger space to properly recognize these heroes in a respectful and comfortable setting,” said Congressman Aderholt. “We are deeply grateful for their service, and I look forward to seeing so many veterans and their loved ones in Florence.”

Only the location for the Florence event has changed; the date and time remain unchanged. The Blount County ceremony will still be held at Blount County Multi-Purpose Center in Cleveland on Friday, August 29, 2025, at 10:30 a.m.

Both ceremonies are part of an ongoing effort by Congressman Aderholt to honor Vietnam-era veterans with commemorative pins as recognition for their service.

Robert Aderholt has represented Alabama’s 4th district in Congress since 1997 after replacing Tom Bevill. He previously served in the Alabama House of Representatives and was born in Haleyville, Alabama. He holds degrees from Birmingham–Southern College and Samford University.
