Fifth-grade students at Steele Elementary received their Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) certificates on Mar. 20, marking the completion of the program led by D.A.R.E. Instructor Byron Jenkins.
The graduation highlights efforts to educate young students about resisting substance abuse and violence. The D.A.R.E. program is designed to provide children with skills and knowledge to make safe and responsible choices.
Jenkins presented certificates to the students during a ceremony celebrating their achievement in finishing the curriculum. “Thank you to everyone who partnered with the Sheriff’s Office to help educate and equip our students with skills to resist substance abuse and violence!” Jenkins said.
The event recognized not only the graduates but also community members and organizations that supported the initiative throughout its duration.
As more schools continue similar programs, local officials say such education remains important for student well-being and safety.
