The St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office announced on April 30 that additional charges have been filed against Shelli Edwards, a 41-year-old woman from Cropwell, in an ongoing aggravated child abuse investigation.

Authorities said Edwards now faces a total of eighteen charges. These include three counts of aggravated child abuse, one count of production of child sexual abuse materials, four counts of possession of such materials, one count of rape in the first degree, one count of sexual torture, two counts of sodomy in the first degree, one count of incest, one count of sexual abuse in the first degree, and four counts related to failure by a mandatory reporter to report abuse.

The Sheriff’s Office said Edwards is being held without bond as she awaits an Aniah’s Law hearing. Aniah’s Law allows judges to deny bail for individuals accused of certain violent crimes.

Sheriff Billy J. Murray confirmed these developments and outlined the nature and number of charges against Edwards.

This case remains under investigation by local authorities.
