Robert Aderholt, U.S. Congressman representing Alabama’s 4th district since 1997, announced the unanimous House approval of his bipartisan bill to create a $2.50 commemorative coin honoring America’s 250th anniversary. The announcement was made via his official Twitter account on February 9, 2026.
In his tweet, Aderholt stated: “Big news: My bipartisan bill to create a $2.50 commemorative coin honoring America’s 250th anniversary just received unanimous approval in the House today. A meaningful way to celebrate our nation’s history, freedom, and future. “ (February 9, 2026).
On February 10, 2026, Aderholt posted a message of support for a local leader: “We are praying for Sheffield Mayor Bryan Van Devender and his family.”
Aderholt also promoted educational initiatives tied to the nation’s upcoming milestone anniversary. On February 10, he tweeted: “Registration is open for the Presidential 1776 Award, a national history competition for high school students celebrating America’s 250th Birthday. Students can sign up to compete and showcase their understanding of America’s history for scholarship money.”
Aderholt has served in Congress since replacing Tom Bevill in Alabama’s 4th district in 1997 and previously held office in the Alabama House of Representatives. Born in Haleyville, Alabama in 1965 and currently residing there at age 57, he holds degrees from Birmingham–Southern College (BA) and Samford University (JD).
