Robert Aderholt, U.S. Congressman representing Alabama’s 4th district since 1997, addressed several national and international issues in a series of tweets posted on October 7 and 8, 2025.
On October 7, Aderholt marked the anniversary of a violent incident, stating, “Today, on October 7th, we remember the brutal terrorist attack carried out by Hamas against Israel two years ago. My thoughts are with the families of the 1,200 innocent lives lost, those who continue to grieve loved ones, and I pray for the safe return of all who remain in Hamas”.
The following day, he commented on the ongoing government shutdown, writing on October 8, “By shutting down our government, Senate Democrats are hurting Alabamians. Alabama is home to 57,000 federal employees and 736,000 WIC recipients (286,000 of those including children). It’s time for Senate Democrats to join Republicans and vote to end the shutdown to help Alabama”.
Later the same day, Aderholt referenced recent regulatory developments and his leadership role in Congress: “Following the FDA’s approval of a new generic abortion drug, I, as Chairman of the House Values Action Team, released the following statements alongside my colleagues.”
Aderholt has represented Alabama’s 4th District in Congress since replacing Tom Bevill in 1997 and previously served in the Alabama House of Representatives. Born in Haleyville in 1965, Aderholt continues to reside there. He earned his BA from Birmingham–Southern College in 1987 and a JD from Samford University in 1990.
