Congressman Robert Aderholt has announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation, through the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), awarded a $468,426 grant to the City of Oneonta and Blount County. This funding is intended for infrastructure improvements at Robbins Field.

The grant, part of the Fiscal Year 2025 Airport Improvement Program (AIP), will finance the construction of a new 500-foot taxi lane at Robbins Field. This addition aims to enhance airfield access to a non-exclusive T-hangar area, aligning with federal standards and increasing general aviation service capacity.

“Robbins Field plays an important role in the economic vitality of Oneonta, Blount County, and the greater region,” stated Congressman Aderholt. “This investment in aviation infrastructure will improve safety, support local operations, and ensure the airport remains a vital asset for the community.”

The project seeks to boost operational efficiency and support future growth by providing necessary infrastructure for additional hangar space. It highlights ongoing collaboration among federal, state, and local entities to maintain rural and regional airports as key transportation and economic centers.

The FAA’s FY 2025 Airport Improvement Program issued this grant. The program funds planning and development for public-use airports within the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems (NPIAS).
