Congressman Robert Aderholt announced on May 12 that the Alabama Department of Transportation has awarded a construction contract for roadway lighting in Red Bay, covering the area from Bear Creek Bridge to the 9th Street West/Water Plant intersection.
The project is funded through federal Community Project Funding secured by Aderholt, aiming to enhance infrastructure and public safety in Alabama’s Fourth Congressional District. The initiative focuses on improving visibility and reducing risks for both residents and drivers.
“This project will directly improve public safety and infrastructure in Red Bay by providing much needed lighting to areas of concern for residents and drivers,” said Congressman Robert Aderholt. “I was glad to help secure and support funding for this project because nighttime lighting increases visibility, strengthens community confidence, and reduces opportunities for criminal activity.”
“I have long believed that our rural communities deserve the same top-notch access to infrastructure and safety improvements, and these funds are a real step towards that goal,” said Aderholt.
The construction contract was awarded to Big River Electric, Inc., based in Killen, Alabama. According to official congressional records, Robert Aderholt has represented Alabama’s 4th district since 1997 after replacing Tom Bevill. He previously served in the Alabama House of Representatives. Born in Haleyville, Alabama in 1965, he currently resides there. He graduated from Birmingham–Southern College with a BA in 1987 before earning his JD from Samford University in 1990.
As work begins on this new phase of infrastructure improvements, officials expect increased safety benefits once installation is complete.
