The City of Birmingham continues to upgrade streets in all 9 council districts through a $12.5 million resurfacing project. Mayor Randall L. Woodfin prioritized work to resurface approximately 43 miles of city streets. The status of the work can be reviewed below by council district.
- District 1: Street paving is complete. Striping and final actions have not been finalized.
- District 2: Paving is near complete. An area of Roebuck Springs is on hold due to a Jefferson County Environmental Services Department sewer replacement project.
- District 3: Work is underway on ramps and sidewalks. Street paving has not yet started.
- District 4: Work is underway on ramps and sidewalks. Street paving has not yet started.
- District 5: Work is underway on ramps and sidewalks. Some road milling has begun.
- District 6: Work is underway on ramps and sidewalks. Street paving has not yet started.
- District 7: Some street paving is complete. Goss Street is the next work site.
- District 8: Some street paving is complete. The contractor is finishing Cullman Avenue. Next work sites include Border Street, 16th Street and 15th Street near Pike Road and Graymont area.
- District 9: Some street paving is complete. Work is currently underway on Brookfield Lane across Cherry Avenue. Tree Haven Drive and Castleberry Way are the next work sites.
