Congressman Robert Aderholt voted in favor of the bipartisan FY2026 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which includes provisions he introduced, such as the DUAL (Defense United Access to Learning) Act and a measure supporting the domestic textile industry.
The FY26 NDAA provides a 3.8% pay increase for all service members, funds new military capabilities including Golden Dome, aims to strengthen deterrence, and eliminates certain programs described as “woke.” The legislation is intended to enhance national security and improve conditions for service members.
“At a time when national security demands are growing, a stronger military means a more secure future. FY26 NDAA delivers real wins for America’s national security, improves quality of life for our dedicated servicemembers, and advances President Trump’s peace-through-strength agenda,” said Congressman Aderholt.
This year’s defense bill also seeks to make foreign military sales more efficient, potentially increasing international demand for equipment produced in Alabama. It allocates resources for construction at Alabama military bases and supports innovation through additional investments.
Among the provisions included is the DUAL Act. This bill allows the Department of Defense Education Activity (DODEA) to partner with accredited colleges and universities so that high school students from military families can participate in dual enrollment programs.
Congressman Aderholt also introduced Amendment #0668 to address issues in the U.S. domestic textile industry and Department of Defense procurement practices. The amendment directs the Department of Defense to focus more on procuring textiles domestically, aiming to give American manufacturers a larger role in meeting defense needs while supporting jobs within the country.
Robert Aderholt has represented Alabama’s 4th district in Congress since 1997 after succeeding Tom Bevill. Before serving in Congress, he was a member of the Alabama House of Representatives. Born in Haleyville, Alabama in 1965, Aderholt continues to reside there. He graduated from Birmingham–Southern College with a BA in 1987 and earned his JD from Samford University in 1990.
