Congressman Robert Aderholt of Alabama’s 4th District released a statement following President Trump’s recent military action against the Iranian regime. The attack, which took place early Saturday, was aimed at targeting leaders in Iran.

Aderholt said, “To call the current Iranian regime brutal would be an understatement. For nearly 50 years, its leaders have called for ‘Death to America’ and ‘Death to Israel.’ They are responsible for the deaths of hundreds of American service members, including the 241 U.S. Marines murdered in the 1983 Beirut barracks bombing, as well as many other Americans killed directly and through their terrorist proxies. The current leadership has also suppressed and killed thousands of Iran’s own people simply for seeking a voice in their government. I stand with President Trump in leading America to take decisive action to restore stability to a region that has lacked it for far too long. The time for the people of Iran is now. May God bless our armed forces and the United States of America.”

Aderholt currently serves as Chairman of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education, and is also a member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense.

Aderholt has represented Alabama’s 4th district in Congress since 1997 after succeeding Tom Bevill. He previously served in the Alabama House of Representatives and was born in Haleyville, Alabama in 1965. He earned his undergraduate degree from Birmingham–Southern College in 1987 and received his law degree from Samford University in 1990.
