Congressman Robert Aderholt announced that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will provide $520,000 to improve the water system in Garden City, Alabama. The funding comes from the FY 2023 Consolidated Appropriations Act and is part of a broader effort by Congress to support local water infrastructure and ensure reliable water services for communities.
“Clean, dependable water is essential for every community, and this investment will help Garden City make needed improvements to its water system,” said Congressman Aderholt. “I am proud to support funding that strengthens critical infrastructure in North Alabama and helps ensure residents have access to safe water now and into the future.”
The project in Garden City is among 715 congressionally directed water infrastructure initiatives funded nationwide through the EPA’s Community Grants program. In fiscal year 2023, Congress allocated $1.47 billion for these projects under the Consolidated Appropriations Act.
Congressman Aderholt also stated, “This grant is good news for Garden City and the surrounding area. It will help the town modernize its water system and better serve local families and businesses.”
Robert Aderholt has represented Alabama’s 4th district in Congress since 1997 after succeeding Tom Bevill. Before his time in Congress, he served in the Alabama House of Representatives. Born in Haleyville, Alabama in 1965, Aderholt continues to reside there at age 57. He graduated from Birmingham–Southern College with a BA in 1987 and earned his JD from Samford University in 1990.
